Miniature continent
- An area smaller than the Saarland, but 7 climate zones at an altitude of 0-3718m
- Lunar and lava landscapes in alpine heights
- 3 mountains, semi-desert, subtropical laurel forest
- Countless rocky, sandy and pebble beaches
- The smallest mountain villages alternate with historic university towns
- A grandiose high road past the Izaña Observatory at 2393m
- The capital Santa Cruz with history and modern culture in a Spanish metropolitan flair.
- All of this overlooked by the majestic Pico del Teide volcano in the Massif Central.
Travel time
- When the weather in Central Europe is gloomy and grim, Tenerife is of course particularly attractive.
- But the island of eternal spring is a great place for a (motorcycle) vacation even in summer.
- And it's usually cheaper than a vacation in the Alps too.
Arrival and pick-up of participants by 13:00 from the arrivals hall at TFS airport at the customs exit
After a short introduction and hotel transfer, we will have lunch together and get to know the other participants. This is followed by room check-in, transfer to the moto rental station and handover of the rental motorcycles with a briefing. If there is time, we ride the first curves to the hotel. At the hotel, the tour guide presents the tours for the next few days over a glass of something nice.
We cross the miniature continent on our way west to Los Angeles on roads with hardly any traffic. On the coast, the first serpentine roads and an interesting mix of modern and historical architecture and everyday culture await us, e.g. an old settlement with a restaurant built entirely into the cliff.
You won't find this tour with any other provider. It is also not on the tour map.
On the east mountain road with its 95 km and 1000 bends, we warm up on super-grippy asphalt and stop at the most beautiful viewpoints and monuments. Continuing on excellent asphalt, we wind our way through the beautiful Corona forest valley up 1450 meters in altitude to the Teide panoramic road.
1 year of curve training compressed into a few hours!
Soon the road is rough, windy and unforested towards the Teide National Park World Heritage Site, perhaps through snowfields, with the Atlantic Ocean and neighbouring Canary Islands visible sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left in bright sunshine. We make a detour to the futuristic Izana observatory at 2393m with a great view of Gran Canaria on a clear day. After lunch, freshly refreshed, we take a tour through the giant primordial volcano cauldron full of natural highlights. We explore Martian and lunar landscapes, ride to the valley station of the Teide cable car at 2356 m and touch the finger of God.
We start the descent from the basin on a well-known motorcycle motif, the long straight of the TF-38, which later takes us winding through the endemic pine forest to the descent to Chirche, a picturesque mountain village with a steep passage typical of the Canary Islands. We recharge our batteries in a quaint restaurant with an equally quaint host and then, due to time constraints, take a less winding route to the hotel.
Today we explore the north-western mountains of Tenerife, the Teno with its world-famous village of 80 souls, Masca, in the serpentine gorge of the same name. On the way to the Masca gorge, we ride over fantastic mountain passes with hairpin bends in a class of their own. A mountain road with natural tunnels leads us to the Punta del Teno nature reserve, the westernmost point of Tenerife with its striking lighthouse.
After refreshing ourselves in one of the many natural swimming pools on the north coast, we have lunch on the terrace of a fish restaurant right on the rocky beach, with strong surf in the spray.
On the way home, we explore the largely unknown highlands of Tenerife.
Heading north-east to the Anaga mountains. Mighty and rugged on the flanks facing the Atlantic, in the interior winding roads in enchanted laurel forest to villages of 20 people consisting of cave houses in grandiose gorges. With a bit of luck, the grocery store in Afur is open and takes us on a little journey back in time to the 1950s. We travel through other dead-end villages "at the end of the world".
On the way to Anaga, we drive through the island's capital Santa Cruz, see its futuristic-looking auditorium à la Sydney Opera House, the various ports, perhaps cruise ships and the paradisiacal white sandy beach of Las Teresitas.
Lunch is served with a view of the "Roques de Benijo".
Tenerife can also be different, a miniature continent. We ride a rollercoaster in the semi-desert of the south-east and visit unknown sights and lost places.
You won't find this tour with any other provider. It is also not on the tour map.
On the way to the famous Oratava Valley, we ride the most challenging of the 3 southern routes to the highest year-round inhabited village in Spain, Vilaflor, which attracts visitors with its historic town center and the most famous biker bar in Tenerife.
After the descent to the north side of the island, a particularly lush vegetation awaits us in the Oratava Valley, determined by winegrowing, among other things, which in turn produces countless guachinches (ostrich taverns), where traditional Canarian dishes are served in a simple ambience at very reasonable prices. However, we treat ourselves to lunch in a beautiful old monastery, which has been lovingly converted into a restaurant.
On the way back, one of Tenerife's most beautiful natural swimming pools invites you to take a dip.
Unfortunately, our last day together. The Tenerife newbies among us have gained a first impression of the beauty and diversity of Tenerife. Our last ride together leads to the moto rental station for the return of the rental motorcycles and the subsequent transfer to the hotel.
For those who are not extending their vacation on Tenerife, checkout and departure now follow.
Hasta la próxima (until next time)
Tenerife is the biker's Eldorado. Get out of the German winter without a costly long-distance trip to another continent. The island of eternal spring attracts visitors in winter with average maximum temperatures of 23 degrees and offers curves, road surfaces, biker-friendly locals and much more in a variety and quality that is unlikely to be found on the European mainland. On an area smaller than the Saarland, Tenerife has 7 microclimate zones at an altitude of 0-3718m.
With luck, we will be rolling in natural snow at 2300m at 15 degrees Celsius and glorious sunshine, pierce the cloud cover downwards with the motorcycle and 45 min.
We will show you this miniature continent with all its scenic and cultural beauties and contrasts on roads with hardly any traffic, some of which are dizzying.
The following models are available as as-new Class A motorcycles, each with different seat heights:
We are happy to help you choose the right motorcycle for you!
These tours are organised by our local partner.
Hermina is your contact person around the clock, stays with you in the hotel, is always there on tour and for the after-tour activities. She is a qualified hotel manager with many years of experience in customer service. Above all, however, she is an enthusiastic biker who wants to constantly improve her riding skills in order to have even more fun and relaxation on the bike.
Your tour guide Markus is a motorbike mechanic HWK and moto instructor VPA. He will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and say goodbye (except on day 1) after you have parked your motorbike. Of course, he is always available for you.
Every biker is welcome, the low tour requirements can be found below in the "Riding ability" section.
We meet in the arrivals hall at Tenerife South Airport (TFS) at the customs exit.
After checking into our rooms at the hotel, we eat together and get to know each other better. This is followed by the handover of the hire bikes and a briefing. If there is time, we ride the first bends back to the hotel.
At the hotel, the tour guide will then present the tours for the next few days in a cosy atmosphere. This includes information and answers to your questions about riding technique and group riding rules.
We are here to ride bends!
So we warm up ourselves and the bikes on a few rhythmic, winding roads without any major inclines and take a short detour to Las Vegas. (We may also visit Los Angeles in the next few days.) When everyone is relaxed and has a good feeling for their motorbike, we start our first training session off the beaten track under the motto:
"The moto is your friend"
Women can do gymnastics on it even at low speeds, ride freehand, steer with leg pressure and/or weight shifting and much more. The Moto is stable without us having to do anything.
To ensure that the Moto remains our friend at walking speed and below (and doesn't tip over), we give it a few strokes.
This means that we will soon be well prepared to dive into the mountainous cornering paradise.
In the following days we will incorporate training on tour, as far and as long as you enjoy it!
